About Dorinda Borer

Dorinda Keenan Borer is a lifelong West Haven resident and a proud product of the very community she now serves as Mayor. Known for her hands-on leadership and deep-rooted commitment to public service, Mayor Borer has dedicated her life to making West Haven stronger, safer, and more united.

Born and raised in West Haven, she earned her B.S. in Business Administration and Management from Southern Connecticut State University and went on to receive her M.B.A. from the University of New Haven. Her strong educational foundation and decades of professional experience have shaped her practical, people-first approach to leadership.

Mayor Borer’s journey of service began long before taking office. From mentoring youth to spearheading community initiatives, she has consistently shown up for West Haven—always ready to roll up her sleeves and get to work. Today, as Mayor, she continues to put residents first, lead with integrity, and deliver results that matter.

$250,000 state planning grant for downtown/Village Improvement District revitalization.

Restored fiscal stability & financial independence

The city exited state oversight by Connecticut’s Municipal Accountability Review Board (MARB) in May 2025, marking a critical milestone in regaining local financial control.

Police pension reinstated

Negotiated the return of a traditional pension plan (replacing the prior 401(k)) for West Haven police officers, boosting recruitment and retention after MARB oversight lapses cleared.

Expanded educational opportunities & community partnerships
